A short note from the Prez………..

As you can see, the June 1st meeting will be held on their grounds of the Hudsonville Swap. Hope to see a good turn out at this meeting. With not having to many issues to go over, the meeting should not be a long one. The meeting will start promptly at 1:00PM.

The September meeting will be our Annual meeting in Lansing on the 8th, due to the Labor Day weekend being the first weekend. At this meeting, there will be elections for the office of President, Secretary, and a Director position. A nominations committee will be formed to accept nominations. If you are interested in running for any of these positions please contact me. The ballot will be published in the next newsletter.

At the last meeting in Saginaw, a change was made to the By-Laws concerning our dues. By majority vote of those present, the dues are now $10.00 for Full Membership, and $5.00 for Supporting Membership. So, if you haven’t paid your dues for this year, now is the time to get them in.

During the past year and a half, we have tried to maintain an advanced list of places on were the meetings would be. At the present time, we do not have a site for our December meeting. If you would like to host that meeting, please contact us as soon as possible.

If anyone has any questions, you can reach the Board via of the website, or my phone number is 586-465-7126. For those of making the meeting on the June 1st, I’ll see you there.

73,

Dennis, W8DFG

President

Database Manager / Webmaster’s Corner

Activity during the past quarter has slowed down a bit.  I produced two updates of the web site Repeater Directory in addition to updates to the Meetings and Newsletter pages.

The latest Repeater Directory shows that of the 399 repeaters listed, 34% have a Renewal Update TDS due. I have processed 28 renewal TDS’s since March.

For those members that will be submitting TDS forms:  Please fill out your forms completely.  Incomplete or illegible forms will be returned.  Please provide your repeater’s street address or the nearest crossroads.  If you are recording changes, mention them in the comments area of the online form or attach a note to the paper TDS.  As always, accurate and legible TDS forms make processing updates less time consuming.

I’ve logged 19 hours on MARC activities since March.

Minutes of the Marc Inc. March 3, 2002 Meeting

President Gaboury, W8DFG at 1 pm called the March 2002 meeting of M.A.R.C. INC. to order at Blumfield Township Fire station #2. Introductions followed. Twelve people were present. The minutes of the December 2,2001 meeting were amended to include a change in the bylaws regarding a reduction in the dues. Wallace Murray, KE8HR made a motion to accept the amended minutes. Ron Gordon, W8YUC, supported the motion. The motion carried.

Kelly Karpp, KB8RWG, read the Treasurer’s report. It showed a savings balance of $4427.91, a checking balance of $590.13, and a total of $5018.04. The previous savings balance was $4745.42, interest accrued was $5.92, dues received totaled $305.00 for a total of $5056.34.  Expenses were checks $8.30,QSL Net $20.00, State Of Michigan $10.00 for a total of $38.30. Wallace Murray made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s Report, which was seconded by Bruce Winchell, N8UT, and the motion carried.

The proposed changes to the bylaws were presented to the group. The bylaws changes regarding the dues reduction had no effective date. After discussion a consensus

was reached, and the change will go into effect March 3,2002.

The matter of exchanging the Durand 145.29 frequency with the 147.34 Flint frequency was discussed. The change was suggested to minimize the interference with Big Rapids and Gaylord. It was decided that Flint and Durand were too close to make the exchange.

Dave Johnson, Database Manager, WD8DJB, stated the ARRL directory has been sent in now by quadrant and by city alphabetically.

The motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Kelly and supported by Wallace. The meeting adjourned at 2:13 pm.

The next meeting will be held on Saturday June 1,2002 at 1 pm at the I.R.A. swap in Hudsonville.

Respectfully submitted,

This form explains how to fill out the MARC TDS form. It does not cover every box/line. This is to be filed only by a licensed amateur radio operator. The person filling out this form should be the Trustee of the repeater; the trustee normally is the control operator and has sole responsibility for all correspondence with the MARC.

This form must be complete and all appropriate boxes checked.

ACTION REQUESTED:

I Check New Coordination for a frequency not currently assigned to you or when requesting an additional link frequency, to change location, ERP, antenna height, or any other operation that will change the technical parameters of the system. Explain the modification desired in the comments area.

2. Check Modify Existing Coordination for a change in call sign, Trustee, access mode or system features.

3. Check Renewal Update when making the required two‑year update of the MARC inc. files

SYSTEM TYPE: Check only one box in this section, Use an individual form for each component such as a transmitter, link, system, or remote receivers.

FREQUENCY INFORMATION:

1. For a New Coordination, indicate the desired band only.

All other actions require entering coordinated frequency data.

SYSTEM STATUS: “Will be On By” enter date only if the system has been off‑line for some reason. “Proposed” is only for new coordinations. If system is coordinated and on the air use “ Operational”.

SPONSORSHIP: The sponsor is the actual holder of the coordination. Enter sponsor name, club or organization.

Trustees enter name and call sign of individual in control of the repeater.

(Required) Entries with double zeros in the second’s position are not acceptable. The AMSL and COORDINATES are derived from a USGS 7 2 minute quadrangle map or GPS device.

Exact Location: this is the address where the repeater is located.

ANTENNA & POWER INFORMATION: Please note the Power to Antenna does not refer to transmit power out of the transmitter, but to the actual power that reaches the feed point of the antenna, there are significant power losses in duplexers
